A major UK financial institution sought Clarasys' expertise to help transform its strategic approach and bring its purpose statement to life. The organisation aimed to shift from being primarily profit-driven to purpose-driven, with profit as a vital outcome. To support this transition, the Group Strategy team needed a clear, aligned vision of the positive impact they could have on the world (Theory of Change), as well as a framework for measuring this impact.
We used a series of workshops with senior stakeholders across Group Strategy to articulate the impact that the organisation wants to have. We validated and further refined that work with stakeholder interviews and iterative development of the Theory of Change, and aligned their ongoing strategic initiatives with their core purpose. In parallel, we built a list of measures corresponding to the Theory of Change, as well as a Systems Map which highlighted major players, challenges, and impact opportunities.
- The organisation now has a high-level Theory of Change articulating their desired organisational impacts and outcomes, focused on major strategic initiatives and designed for iteration
- A view of all the ways they’re delivering for this impact today and recommendations for the future
- Progressing towards being a purpose-driven company and having impact as a BAU consideration
- A direction of travel for impact measurement
- Established next steps for operationalisation
