Following a merger of multiple hospitals, our client wanted to define how teams could function cohesively following the large-scale organisational change. There was little documentation of what skills were critical amongst the combined teams, outdated job descriptions, and no clear understanding of the learning landscape. Therefore, the skill gaps and training needs in the digital organisation needed to be assessed in order to clarify a path to upskill employees and help them thrive in the new organisation.
Clarasys conducted focus groups and interviews to understand the skills required in their roles as well as key tech that teams were utilizing now and will be using in the future. We designed, fielded, and analysed the results of a training needs assessment survey for two IT functions and used the survey and direct feedback from employees to identify the critical training needs for each team that should be prioritised. ~90 skills were assessed. Taking the results of the survey, qualitative data, and additional research compiled over 40 prioritised recommendations to improve the state of learning in the team and promote a culture of learning.
