Vice President, Consulting

📍 Boston, MA (Hybrid)

About Clarasys

Clarasys is an experience consultancy. We help organisations solve complex business problems and transform how they work, serve customers, and deliver value.

Our teams work across business analysis, programme management, change, process improvement, customer experience, and technology-enabled transformation. We tailor our approach to each client and work alongside their teams so they can sustain the change after we leave.

Clarasys is employee-owned and non-hierarchical. People have a say in the direction of the business, and expertise and impact matter more than title. Our Boston office is a growing local team supported by an established global consultancy. This role will help shape that growth.

The role

We are looking for an Vice President to lead the growth of our US Commercial Operations practice and take a significant role in selling and delivering consulting work. Internally, we call this role, Associate Director, but we’ve noticed that candidates seem to view it as a Vice President level role and outwardly advertise it that way.

This role combines sales, client delivery, and leadership. You will build senior relationships, understand the commercial and operational issues our clients are facing, shape proposals, and lead teams through delivery. You should be comfortable discussing a new opportunity with a senior executive, running a future-state design workshop, reviewing a transformation roadmap, and coaching a consultant through a delivery challenge.

You will need a strong Lead-to-Cash, Quote-to-Cash, or Order-to-Cash background. Your experience may include sales processes, customer onboarding, contracting, quoting, order management, billing, collections, revenue operations, or the connection between CRM and finance. You should understand that these transformations require more than a systems implementation. They depend on sound process design, clear governance, aligned teams, and practical change management.

A significant part of the role will focus on commercial growth. You will build a relevant pipeline, win new clients, expand existing relationships, and help Clarasys decide where to focus its US Commercial Operations offering. You will also contribute to the wider US business and help build a strong team in Boston.

At this level, we care about the scale and outcomes of the work you have led. Examples might include:

  • Programs affecting 100+ people or spanning multiple locations.
  • Engagement or total program budgets in the hundreds of thousands or millions.
  • Work with senior stakeholders, including C-suite leaders.
  • Proposals converted into engagements, extensions, or new revenue.
  • Responsibility for margin, cash flow, pricing, scope, and delivery risk.

These are examples of scale, not a checklist.

Responsibilities

Sales and account growth

  • Build relationships with senior leaders across commercial, finance, operations, technology, and customer functions.
  • Identify client needs where Clarasys can provide practical support.
  • Generate and qualify opportunities across Lead-to-Cash, Quote-to-Cash, Order-to-Cash, and broader Commercial Operations transformation.
  • Lead or contribute to discovery meetings, executive briefings, proposals, and statements of work.
  • Shape propositions that connect the client’s problem to clear business outcomes.
  • Expand existing accounts by developing trusted relationships and identifying related opportunities.
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline and clear visibility of opportunity status, risks, and next steps.
  • Track progress from opportunity through proposal, close, delivery, extension, or follow-on work.
  • Build Clarasys’ presence in the Boston market and the wider US consulting community.

Client delivery

  • Lead transformation engagements from discovery and strategy through future-state design, implementation, adoption, and value realization.
  • Set the direction for complex programs and keep delivery aligned to objectives, budget, timeline, and expected outcomes.
  • Manage value, margin, cash flow, and delivery risk throughout the engagement.
  • Advise executive stakeholders and align teams with different priorities and measures of success.
  • Facilitate workshops that clarify problems, test options, and define future-state processes.
  • Oversee work across commercial process design, operating model change, billing transformation, revenue operations, systems implementation, and CRM-to-finance integration.
  • Establish clear governance, accountability, reporting, and decision-making routines.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, resources, financial tracking, and changes in scope.
  • Make sure clients are able to own and maintain the changes after the engagement ends.

Practice and people leadership

  • Help set and deliver Clarasys’ US Commercial Operations go-to-market strategy.
  • Develop our Lead-to-Cash, Quote-to-Cash, and Order-to-Cash offerings, methods, and intellectual property.
  • Contribute to US office strategy and operational decisions as part of the leadership team.
  • Coach and mentor consultants at different stages of their careers.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, performance development, and team growth.
  • Help create a working environment where people share ideas, ask for help, learn from experience, and take responsibility for client outcomes.
  • Contribute to internal initiatives that improve how Clarasys works beyond individual client engagements.

About you

You are a senior consulting or transformation leader who can connect commercial growth with high-quality delivery. You can sell work without losing sight of the client problem, and you understand that maintaining the client relationship is part of delivering well.

You will likely have:

  • 15+ years management consulting, working in the professional services, revenue operations, or a similar client-facing transformation environment. Working in a consulting firm for the majority of your career is a must have.
  • A substantial track record delivering Lead-to-Cash, Quote-to-Cash, or Order-to-Cash programs.
  • Experience leading work at meaningful scale, such as programs affecting 100+ people, spanning multiple locations, or involving budgets in the hundreds of thousands or millions.
  • Experience across some combination of sales, customer operations, contracting, CPQ, order management, billing, collections, revenue recognition, finance operations, or commercial systems.
  • A record of winning consulting work and expanding existing accounts through relationship-led business development.
  • Experience leading complex programmes, managing consulting teams, and owning delivery outcomes.
  • The confidence to work with C-suite stakeholders and the judgment to turn executive direction into action.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with subscription, recurring revenue, healthcare, professional services, media, information services, or another complex commercial model.
  • An interest in contributing to the wider business, not just your own projects or accounts.

Experience with Salesforce CPQ/ARM or Revenue Cloud, Zuora, Stripe Billing, BillingPlatform, or similar platforms would be useful. Relevant certifications are welcome, but they are not a substitute for consulting, transformation, and commercial leadership experience.
