Andy Brown

Andy spent over two decades at Anglian Water, most recently as Group Chief Sustainability Officer. During that time, he led the company's transition to becoming one of the first major utilities in the world to legally embed purpose into its Articles of Association - a move grounded in the belief that genuine purpose requires structural protection, not just leadership intent. He developed and oversaw the integration of the Six Capitals framework into Anglian Water's decision-making, creating a governance tool that gave employees at every level the authority to ask whether decisions were consistent with the company's purpose. He also led the creation of Anglian Water's new Purpose Impact Assessment, which values the positive and negative impacts of the company's operations on environmental and social prosperity. Andy now works with Clarasys to help other organisations in the water sector and beyond navigate the same transition - drawing on hard-won experience of what it takes to make purpose durable at scale. Andy has also led the UK committee developing the ISO standard for purpose driven organisations (ISO 37011)
