Subscription business models have been prevalent since the early 20th century. Whilst they are not new, more recently, digital technology has fuelled a new wave of subscription services. This is due in large part to their low costs of entry/exit, flexible pricing capabilities, rich data capture, and a paradigm shift in consumer priority from ownership to access.
